Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, confirmed to VietNamNet reporters on the afternoon of January 7: Mr. Dang Ngoc Cam and Nguyen Quoc Khanh signed resolutions of the Board of Members of the Tea Corporation, agreeing to contribute capital and divest capital, which is the right to use the land at 225 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, without going through an auction according to regulations, causing damage to state assets.
On January 5, after the Supreme People's Procuracy approved, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency executed the above-mentioned prosecution decisions.
According to Lieutenant General To An Xo, the temporary detention of Mr. Khanh and Mr. Cam is the latest development when the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is investigating the case of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste" occurring at the Vietnam Tea Corporation - Joint Stock Company and related units and organizations. Previously, the Investigation Agency initiated the temporary detention of defendant Nguyen Thien Toan, former General Director in charge of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Tea Corporation.
The case is under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Anti-Negative Practices.
Currently, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is continuing to expand the investigation of the case, consolidate evidence to clarify the criminal acts of the related subjects, verify assets to seize and completely recover assets for the State.
