The pride of lions ran away in panic when this animal appeared.

(Dan Tri) - Lions are considered the "king of the savannah" thanks to their superior strength and power. However, the clip below shows that kings do not always show their overwhelming power over all species.

Lions have long been known as the "king of the savannah", the top of the food chain with the position of the ultimate predator that makes all species wary.

However, in reality, lions are not the strongest creatures on the grasslands. In the face of larger and more overwhelming opponents, they can still show humility, even panic and run away.

Such a situation was recorded at Kruger Nature Reserve (South Africa), when a pride of adult lions was relaxing in the middle of the grassland when they suddenly encountered a lone elephant.

Detecting the presence of the elephant, some individuals in the herd immediately stood up, showing their alertness. However, the elephant did not show any signs of fear, it calmly walked towards the pride of lions, completely opposite to the usual reaction of prey.

According to wildlife experts, if an elephant panics and turns to run away, it could become a target for hunting. Lions are very sensitive to signs of fear, and just one unfavorable move could turn the strong into prey.

The elephant then stopped about 20 metres away from the lions, as a way to “assess the situation” and give them a chance to retreat peacefully .

A few lions stood up and cautiously made way to avoid collision. However, others remained where they were, indifferent, as if the elephant's presence was not worth worrying about.

Known as the "king of the savannah", the lions ran away when this animal appeared ( Video : Kruger).

Seemingly dissatisfied with being ignored and occupied by the lions, the elephant suddenly roared, expressing its anger and quickly rushed towards the lions. At this point, the entire pride, from the male lions to the immature cubs, were all startled and ran away, avoiding the giant's approach.

However, the elephant's goal was not a fight. It just wanted to assert its power, to show the lions who was the real "king of strength" in the grassland. After successfully chasing them away, the elephant stopped, calmly pulled up a bush to eat, instead of chasing them to the end or attacking.

According to wildlife experts, the elephant in the clip is a newly grown male. At this stage, elephants are usually strong, territorial, and tend to act alone. When they reach adulthood, male elephants will leave their mother herd, live alone, or connect with other males to form new herds.

The elephant’s actions show confidence and the spirit to challenge itself against formidable predators. However, facing off against a large, well-organized and experienced group of lions alone is not necessarily a wise choice. Lions have the advantage of numbers, coordination and the instinct to fight in groups.

Reality has proven that, despite their large appearance and superior strength, elephants are not completely immune to attack by the strongest predators on the savannah.

Many records show that lion prides can join forces to kill stray elephants, especially baby elephants, for food.

In the wild , physical strength is not the only deciding factor. Survival depends on numbers, strategy, and the ability to coordinate in each confrontation.
