Four-year-old boy dies in kindergarten water tank.

Authorities in Ha Tinh province are investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy found in a water tank at a kindergarten in Cam Xuyen district.

On the afternoon of April 25th, speaking with a VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoang, Head of the Education and Training Department of Cam Xuyen district ( Ha Tinh province ), said that a 4-year-old boy attending Cam Trung Kindergarten was found dead in a water tank.

Earlier that day, at around 9:30 a.m., teachers at Cam Trung Kindergarten discovered a 4-year-old boy, PBD, who was attending the school, dead in the school's cooking water tank.

Upon discovering the incident, the Principal and staff of Cam Trung Kindergarten reported it to the authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police, in coordination with forensic forces, accessed the scene and examined the body. Initial findings indicate that the boy died from drowning.

According to the Head of the Education and Training Department of Cam Xuyen District, the drinking water tank was underground, wide but with a small opening. Only about 50cm of the tank's opening protruded above ground. Normally, the drinking water tank would be carefully locked, but this morning, the security guard unlocked it to pump water and hadn't had time to lock the lid before the incident occurred.

"This morning, the child ran out of the classroom twice and was brought back in by the vice principal. Later, while the two teachers were in the classroom, the child ran out again, and they didn't notice. Upon discovering the child was missing, the teacher searched the school grounds but couldn't find her. The school contacted the family, but the child didn't return home either. When they went to the water storage area, they discovered the child had passed away," Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoang informed.

The incident is still under investigation.
