Doctor Trinh Quang Anh, Head of the Musculoskeletal Correction Unit - Hospital 1A (HCMC), said that the hospital had just received treatment for a boy NTGB (9 years old, living in HCMC) with a muscle dislocation after being casted. The patient was admitted to the hospital with a weak left leg, lower than the right leg.

The boy had mechanical pelvic deviation, causing lumbar scoliosis, pelvic tilt, and skeletal scoliosis.

Through medical history, B.’s father said that he had previously broken his left leg while playing soccer at school. He was taken to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment. There, the doctor initially planned to perform surgery, but later, he was given a cast and discharged.

During the time the cast was in place, the family still took baby B. for regular check-ups and monitoring. But after 3 months of removing the cast, the baby could not walk, stand, or move. The family took the baby to many places for physical therapy but there was no improvement.

At Hospital 1A, through examination and paraclinical testing, doctors recorded that baby B. had a serious muscle imbalance in the lumbar region, pelvis and thighs. This caused lumbar scoliosis, pelvic tilt and skeletal scoliosis. Therefore, the baby's gait was short on one side and long on the other, the left knee was stiff, and the muscles in the left thigh and hip were much weaker than the right side.

Doctor Trinh Quang Anh, Head of the Musculoskeletal Correction Unit - Hospital 1A, consults the patient's father.

According to Dr. Quang Anh, the treatment regimen for the child was designed to restore muscle balance, resolve knee stiffness and pelvic tilt. After only 3 sessions, the patient showed significant improvement; after 7 sessions, the improvement was up to more than 70%. According to the regimen, after 10-12 sessions, baby B. will be completely back to normal.

After 7 treatment sessions, the patient improved more than 70%.

According to Dr. Quang Anh, muscle imbalance is a "disease of the 4.0 era", causing joint deviations, causing the joint to tilt, changing the center of gravity and gravitational pressure on the joint surface. This causes the skeleton to become crooked, causing compression of the nerves and blood vessels.

In addition to affecting motor function, the disease also causes physical defects such as turtle neck, hunchback, scoliosis, protruding abdomen, misaligned pelvis, short and long legs, bow legs, bad gait, etc. The disease cannot be cured with pain relievers, muscle relaxants or conventional physical therapy.

Regarding the cause of muscle imbalance, Dr. Quang Anh said that it could be due to bad posture, incorrect and sudden movements, myositis, post-injury and sports ... creating a group of muscles that are over-contracted and the opposing muscle group that is over-stretched. If the condition persists, it will cause muscle imbalance around the joint socket, multiple joints or the whole body.
