Accordingly, the patient was admitted to the hospital on April 24 with prolonged abdominal pain. Through medical history, the patient said that the pain started about a year ago due to a foreign object. During the examination and gastrointestinal endoscopy, doctors discovered pus leakage in the stomach wall - a sign that a foreign object had been there for a long time causing inflammation. The CT scan results determined that there was a 2cm segment of a foreign object suspected to be a fish bone piercing the stomach wall. Faced with the risk of dangerous complications, Dr. Cao Nguyen Dinh decided to choose the endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) technique to handle the foreign object.

This is a modern, advanced technique that allows precise access to the location of foreign objects deep under the gastric mucosa without the need for open abdominal surgery, minimizing invasiveness. Using a new generation endoscopic camera system, the entire process of dissection, removal of foreign objects and sealing of the mucosa with specialized clamps is performed safely and accurately. The endoscopic intervention to remove foreign objects was successful, completely resolving the pus leak caused by foreign objects that had existed for more than 1 year. Thanks to the application of minimally invasive techniques, the patient's health recovered quickly with little pain. After 5 days of active treatment, the patient was discharged from the hospital.

Through this case, doctors advise people to be careful when eating foods containing bones, especially the elderly. When suspecting a foreign body in the digestive tract, people should immediately go to a reputable medical facility for timely diagnosis and treatment to prevent dangerous complications.
