According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital, the hospital has more than 3,000 beds and more than 200 intensive care and emergency beds in all units in the hospital. Of which, the 4 main units are the A9 Emergency Center, the Intensive Care Center, the Poison Control Center and recently the Stroke Center with a total of nearly 500 employees, treating hundreds of seriously ill patients every day. In addition to directly treating seriously ill patients at the hospital, the doctors here also directly participate in training, directing and providing remote support to other intensive care and emergency units in the localities in all situations, especially disasters.
Currently, every day, A9 Emergency Center receives 300-400 patients, mainly transferred from lower levels, in serious and very serious conditions. The medical team of the Center must always be ready, day or night, to fight for the lives of patients. With the current situation, the number of patients coming to the emergency room is overloaded.
"Bach Mai Hospital hopes that the Japanese Government will support the Hospital in building a new 9-storey building into a multi-purpose Emergency Center of regional and international stature, with the capacity to provide emergency care to all patients transferred to Bach Mai Hospital," Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co shared at the meeting with the Japanese Senate delegation to inspect and survey related to the Japanese Government's development assistance (ODA) projects at Bach Mai Hospital, evaluate the effectiveness and propose to continue supporting the Hospital to renovate the A9 Emergency Center on the afternoon of August 26.
Mr. Co proposed to build the largest 9-storey center in Southeast Asia, ensuring effective emergency care in the fastest time. This place will serve 600-800 patients/day, becoming the center of the Northern healthcare system connecting with 35 provincial hospitals, 200 district hospitals, a network of private and specialized hospitals, the Hanoi 115 emergency system and other outpatient emergency units.
"The multi-purpose emergency center also functions as the highest technical line, playing a role in directing the line, modeling the development of emergency specialties, professional cooperation, and scientific research at home and abroad," Associate Professor Co said.
