Mom's Cup of Nut Milk - The "Medicine" of Love Changes Your Thinking About Health

(Dan Tri) - The more modern life becomes, the easier it is for unhealthy habits to creep in, causing significant impacts on the body. At that time, even small attention and changes can start the journey of health care and connecting family members.

After a slight fainting spell, two generations "changed"

Recently, a story shared by a young Gen Zer with the title “From a cup of milk tea to a cup of nut milk from mom” is attracting the attention of many people. The familiar image of a Gen Zer has made many young people exclaim: “Oh, there I am!”.

The story opens with a gentle, familiar tone: “If you knew me about a year ago, you would definitely see that I always have a cup of milk tea in my hand. Rain or shine, morning or night, milk tea is my true love. My mother once joked: My daughter must have half of her blood as black pearls. I am 22 years old, and like many other young people, I think I am healthy. I can eat anything, I don’t care about sleeping late, but I will think about exercise tomorrow.”

Until one day, the girl suddenly fainted in the schoolyard. Luckily, her blood pressure was just low, but the results of the subsequent examination showed that she had mild anemia, signs of hyperlipidemia and stress - the consequences of staying up late, irregular eating and lack of exercise. The mother, who was usually quiet, only said one sentence on the way home that day: "From tomorrow, I will cook nut milk for you to drink."

It seemed like a random remark, but the next morning, the mother woke her daughter up with a cup of hot soy milk in her hand. The cup of milk was unsweetened, without the familiar sweetness, but behind it was her mother's worried eyes, silent sacrifice, and boundless love. From that day on, the milk tea disappeared from the refrigerator, making room for almonds, walnuts, red beans, chia seeds... The mother learned how to make nut milk through YouTube, found recipes on social networks, and excitedly showed her daughter every time she created a new flavor.

The girl started drinking those somewhat bland glasses of milk, at first out of pity for her mother, then out of genuine love. And not only did her eating habits change, but the lifestyle of both mother and daughter gradually changed as well.

Live healthy together from the first small steps

No more sleepless nights surfing the phone, the girl practiced going to bed early, changed her diet, and installed a step-counting app. Every night, she invited her mother to walk with her in the park near her house. At first, she was shy, but then it became a habit. On rainy days, she wanted to rest, but her mother gently said: "Walking for 10 minutes is fine, as long as you do it regularly. After three months, I lost 5kg. My skin is brighter, I eat better, and my mind is also clearer. My mother is noticeably healthier. She wakes up early to exercise, even knows how to order nuts online and introduces her new colleague to making almond milk."

The positive results have come, but not only in the 5kg lost, or brighter skin, but also in the change in health care awareness as well as the feelings between mother and daughter. Mother and daughter are no longer just relatives but like friends, inspiring and supporting each other every step of the new journey.

One time, my mother smiled while making a glass of walnut milk for me and said: “I used to think that nut milk only had soy. Now I’m an expert.” A gentle sentence but enough to warm the heart because it was a change that came from love, from the best wishes for loved ones but also made me better every day.

“From a cup of milk tea to a cup of mother's nut milk” is an entry by author Nguyen Thai Ha sent to the contest "Family health care experience" organized by Dan Tri Newspaper in collaboration with Thu Cuc TCI Healthcare System towards Vietnamese Family Day June 28.

These simple things, when repeated every day, will gradually form positive habits not only for one person, but for the whole family. Stories like “From a cup of milk tea to a cup of nut milk from mom” not only move readers, but also inspire each person to look back at themselves and the people around them to see if they care enough and live healthily together?
