Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital deploys electronic medical records

The implementation of electronic medical records helps improve patient care, enhance management and move towards building smart hospitals, in sync with domestic and international medical trends.

Master Nguyen Viet Anh, Head of Information Technology Department (Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital) reported on the EMR implementation process at the hospital.

On August 16, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital (Hai Phong) held a ceremony to announce the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This is the 4th unit among medical facilities in the Eastern Hai Phong area and the 25th medical unit in the whole city to implement EMR.

Attending the announcement ceremony were Master Nguyen Ba Hung, Director of the National Health Information Center ( Ministry of Health ), representatives of the Department of Health and Social Insurance of the city.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Master Nguyen Ba Hung said that the Government and the Ministry of Health have issued many policies and guidelines to promote the application of information technology in management and medical examination and treatment. EMR is considered one of the important pillars of this process, helping to modernize medical management, improve service quality, reduce paperwork, and save time for patients and medical staff. For Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital - a class 1 hospital, the city's final line, implementing EMR is not only a political task, but also a demonstration of the determination to innovate, pioneer in applying technology, affirming the role of "leading bird" of the Hai Phong Health sector, aiming to become a specialized general hospital of the Northern Coastal Region.

Dr. Do Manh Thang, Director of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, affirmed the superiority of implementing EMR at the unit.

To implement systematically, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital ensures information security, complies with regulations on use, preserves patient data and completes the level proposal file. The unit's recommendations are received and reported to the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security for consideration and resolution.

According to Dr. Do Manh Thang, Director of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, the implementation of EMR brings many benefits to patients, such as: reducing waiting time, ensuring transparent and accurate information; records are stored securely, and are conveniently searched during follow-up visits. For medical staff, it helps reduce paperwork, improve work efficiency, and have more time to focus on patient care.

Delegates visited the EMR deployment area at the On-Demand Treatment Department.

Together with the partner unit, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital conducted a survey and assessment of the current status of the information technology system, technical infrastructure, and human resources in the entire unit. At the same time, select technology solutions that meet professional requirements and regulations of the Ministry of Health; organize training for doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff to master new software and processes as well as test run in a number of departments, on that basis evaluate the effectiveness and make adjustments before widespread deployment.

After the announcement ceremony, delegates visited the departments and rooms of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital that are implementing EMR.

The EMR system supports hospital management through statistics, data analysis, improving the quality of administration and strategic planning. This is a platform towards a paperless, smart hospital, in sync with domestic and international medical trends.
