Found in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China in 1974, the mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang is one of the largest and most intact royal tombs ever discovered.

During subsequent excavations, archaeologists found a terracotta army of about 8,000 life-sized soldier statues.

Each terracotta soldier statue is about 175 - 190 cm tall and has different gestures and facial expressions. Notably, some statues even have different colors.

When admiring these statues, many people are amazed that each warrior is unique, from face, expression, clothes, hairstyle... all different.

According to researchers, the terracotta army of thousands of statues was created by Qin Shi Huang after he ascended the throne to prepare his own tomb.

More than 700,000 workers worked for about 40 years to complete the giant terracotta statues placed in the tomb of the Qin king.

Many experts believe that the Terracotta Army was created based on real-life prototypes of Qin Shi Huang's elite forces. This army is believed to be able to live in the afterlife , continue to serve the Qin king and participate in conquests in the underworld.

The Terracotta Army in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang shows the arrangement of infantry, cavalry, etc. in the Qin army. Many commanding generals of the Qin army were also carved into statues.

The generals were distinguished from the soldiers by their helmets, colorful and ornate armor, shoulder pads and ribboned armor, and their hands were often clasped in front of their chests. The supreme commander of this mighty army was Qin Shi Huang.
