According to Thai news agency The Thaiger , recently, this man brought more than 10 small gold pieces to a local gold shop for testing and evaluation.
The man insisted that all the gold was “taken legally with the permission of the families of the deceased”. He added that he planned to use part of the proceeds to make merit on behalf of the deceased.
The incident came to light on April 25 after the gold shop owner, Namo, posted a video on social media. In the video, Namo used a device to check each piece of gold the man brought in and confirmed that all of them were real gold.
According to this funeral home staff, after cremation, the remains often remain ash, bone fragments and sometimes even gold teeth . Most families do not want to keep the gold and will give it to the funeral home staff.
