Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong inspects the situation of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Van Ban district.

On the morning of October 4, the Provincial Party Committee's working delegation led by Comrade Dang Xuan Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, inspected the situation of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Van Ban district.

The delegation included comrade Pham Toan Thang, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

According to statistics from Van Ban district, due to the impact of storm No. 3, 2 people died in the district; 395 houses were affected; hundreds of hectares of rice, corn, various crops, and cinnamon trees were damaged; many infrastructure works were damaged by landslides. The total estimated damage was over 143 billion VND.

Comrade Dang Xuan Phong and the working group inspected the construction plan at the location on National Highway 279, through the communes of Lang Giang, Hoa Mac, and Duong Quy.

After listening to the progress report and the extent of damage, the Provincial Party Secretary requested that localities and units coordinate well and resolve arising difficulties; take advantage of favorable weather, construction units focus on human resources, means and equipment to speed up progress, striving to complete the entire project according to the approved plan in the first quarter of 2025.

The Provincial Party Secretary and the working delegation inspected the field at Tham Duong Commune Kindergarten and Duong Quy Commune railway bridge.

Next, the working group inspected the landslide at Tham Duong Kindergarten; inspected the plan and progress of the construction to repair Duong Quy iron bridge, Duong Quy commune.

Accordingly, the landslide at Tham Duong Kindergarten affected the kitchen area and 2 classrooms; the unit has moved people and property to a safe location to ensure teaching and learning.

Regarding the construction of the Duong Quy railway bridge, the construction unit has coordinated with local authorities to organize traffic diversion, produce components and construct, striving to complete in November 2024.

The Provincial Party Secretary visited and encouraged teachers and students of Tham Duong Kindergarten, Van Ban.

After the field inspection, Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong praised the efforts of local Party committees, authorities, schools and units in responding to natural disasters. At the same time, he noted that the locality and units need to continue to coordinate closely, carefully study embankment construction plans and techniques to overcome landslides at Tham Duong Kindergarten and Duong Quy iron bridge; pay attention to ensuring safety for students' learning and traffic of local people.

The Provincial Party Secretary and the working delegation listened to a presentation on the overview of the Van Ban District General Hospital project.

Also this morning, the Provincial Party Committee's working delegation inspected the construction progress of the Van Ban District General Hospital Project. This is a project to welcome the District Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Currently, the project has been basically completed and is in the process of installing electrical and water equipment.

Here, Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong requested the locality and the construction unit to coordinate closely to complete the project by December 2024, put it into operation, contributing to improving the quality of health care for local people. In addition, he also noted that the district needs to study and plan to build more auxiliary works and services around the hospital area to meet the needs of the people.
