Previously, from November 28 to 29, in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, Ship Squadrons 264 and 265 conducted the 48th annual joint patrol with Ship Squadrons 526 and 551 of the Royal Thai Navy.
During the patrol, the two sides performed the greeting procedure at sea between ASEAN naval ships (Hello ASEAN); exchanged information; practiced hand flags and lights according to the International Law on Signals; conducted search and rescue drills and implemented the Code of Conduct for Unplanned Encounters at Sea of Western Pacific Navies (CUES).
The 48th joint patrol was conducted on 6 routes with a distance of 408 nautical miles. This activity is part of the Joint Patrol Regulations and the establishment of a communication channel between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy signed by the Commanders of the two navies on June 14, 1999.
With careful preparation and close coordination, the 48th joint patrol was a great success. Thereby, it contributed to maintaining security and order in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, creating conditions for the people of the two countries to develop the marine economy while continuing to promote cooperation, enhance understanding and trust between the two navies.
