Al Jazeera reported that on the evening of April 22 (local time), tens of thousands of Israelis gathered at 150 locations across the country to protest the government 's judicial reform plan.
According to Israeli media, Tel Aviv continues to be the focal point with the largest number of people taking to the streets. Thus, although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced late last month that he would temporarily suspend the push for judicial reform to conduct broader consultation and dialogue, the people of this country continued to persistently take to the streets for the 16th consecutive week with the aim of demanding that the government completely abandon the controversial plan. Opponents argue that this reform will paralyze the independence of the judiciary, promote corruption, limit minority rights and deprive Israel's Supreme Court of power.
