Binh Dinh completes demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses 7 months early

On the afternoon of May 16, the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Binh Dinh province held a ceremony to announce the completion of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses and support the improvement of housing for people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; comrade Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, Deputy Head and Standing Member of the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide.

At the ceremony, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that as of May 16, Binh Dinh had supported the construction and repair of houses for 4,411 households belonging to priority groups such as people with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives, poor households, near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty. With this result, the province has completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses 7 months earlier than the Prime Minister 's direction.

The program has received widespread consensus among the people and the active participation of organizations, individuals and armed forces. These forces have supported the transportation of materials, the demolition of old houses, and site clearance, contributing to speeding up the progress. The total cost of the program is nearly 307.3 billion VND. The spirit of "mutual love" has been strongly promoted and spread deeply in the community.

Previously, from 2020 to 2024, before the Prime Minister launched the movement, Binh Dinh supported 5,477 households to build new and repair houses with a total cost of 239.7 billion VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, appreciated the efforts of Binh Dinh province in implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Binh Dinh has taken care of people with meritorious services and the disadvantaged, and Binh Dinh's social policies have been implemented on schedule and on time. Through monitoring, it can be seen that the poverty rate has decreased rapidly, the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities, have changed significantly; achieving the four words "truth" (tell the truth - do the truth - be effective - benefit the people) in the process of implementing the support program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

"On average, Binh Dinh builds or repairs 32 new houses per day, a rate much higher than the national average. In addition to the central government's support, Binh Dinh uses various resources to support construction. The locality has also promoted the spirit and social strength of organizations," said Minister Dao Ngoc Dung.

According to Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, in the condition that the central budget has not been disbursed, Binh Dinh, with the spirit of daring to do and daring to take responsibility, proactively used the budget to eliminate more than 2,000 temporary and dilapidated houses for the people, thereby creating strong trust among the people in the Party.

Comrade Dao Ngoc Dung suggested that Binh Dinh province should soon summarize its experiences to report at the national summary conference; continue to pay more attention to policy beneficiaries, so that all people can benefit from social security policies, leaving no one behind.
