Binh Dinh: Approval of the policy of merging Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces

Specifically, the People's Council of Binh Dinh province unanimously approved the policy of rearranging the administrative units of Gia Lai province and Binh Dinh province. Accordingly, the new Gia Lai province under the Central Government will be established on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the current Gia Lai province and the entire natural area and population of the current Binh Dinh province.

Gia Lai province after the reorganization has a natural area of ​​21,576km2, population of more than 3.5 million people. The political and administrative center of Gia Lai province is located in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province today.

The project to reorganize administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces in 2025 has proposed a plan and roadmap to reorganize and perfect the apparatus of agencies and organizations after the reorganization.

In the immediate future, maintain the current number of civil servants and public employees in the two provinces. Then, review and streamline the payroll in conjunction with restructuring and improving the quality of the civil servants and public employees to meet the requirements of the task. Ensure that after the deadline required by the Central Government (5 years), the current number of civil servants and public employees will comply with the payroll assigned according to current regulations.

Also at the meeting, the People's Council of Binh Dinh province approved the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in the province. Specifically, merging 155 communes and wards into 58 communes and wards, reducing 97 units. Binh Dinh province changed the way communes and wards are named, switching from numbering to place names. Each name is associated with the development history of that land.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province, requested the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province to urgently direct departments, branches, sectors and relevant agencies and units to fully complete the dossiers of the Project on arranging provincial-level administrative units and the Project on arranging commune-level administrative units, and submit them to competent authorities.

The Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee shall carry out the following tasks in accordance with the direction of the Central Government; proactively develop plans to report to competent authorities on the arrangement, assignment, and use of cadres, civil servants, and public employees, ensuring the retention of talented people, and implementing well the regime and policies for those affected; and fully prepare the legal basis to create the most favorable conditions for the arrangement.
