The BlackBerry Priv was launched in late 2015 with the hope of salvaging the company's declining market share. The device features a unique sliding design, combining a touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard.
The Priv runs Android instead of BlackBerry's own operating system, marking a significant turning point for the company. Powerful configuration, high security, and an exceptional typing experience are the outstanding advantages.
However, sales only reached 650,000 units, lower than expected, leading to the Priv being considered a failure. Android users don't need a physical keyboard, while BlackBerry fans are hesitant to switch platforms. If the Priv had been successful, there could have been a much more powerful and groundbreaking Priv 2.
The nostalgic TikTok trend of 2025 is inadvertently opening up hope for the return of a new version of the Priv. Readers are invited to watch the following video : Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
