According to information from YG Entertainment representatives on September 20, the famous girl group BLACKPINK's "Born Pink" tour has ended with great success. This tour took them to 34 cities around the world , held a total of 66 performances within a year and attracted no less than 1.8 million loyal audiences. With this number, BLACKPINK has officially affirmed themselves as the K-pop girl group with the largest concert audience ever.
BLACKPINK "hit the jackpot" with the "Born Pink" concert
The "Born Pink" tour kicked off in Seoul in October 2022 with 55,000 fans in attendance. It then spread its appeal globally, with 540,000 people in North America, 215,000 people in Europe, and 55,000 people in Australia. In particular, the Asia leg of the tour attracted 900,000 attendees. This does not include the 50,000 people from Australia and 40,000 people from the Middle East who attended, demonstrating BLACKPINK's international appeal.

In addition to their performances on the “Born Pink” tour, BLACKPINK also made their mark at other major music festivals. They performed at the Coachella Festival in the US in front of 250,000 people over two days, and they also made an impression at Hyde Park in the UK, performing in front of 65,000 people. These performances brought BLACKPINK into direct contact with a total of more than 2.115 million music lovers worldwide.
However, despite the outstanding success of Born Pink, questions about BLACKPINK's contract renewal with YG Entertainment still arise. In the Korean entertainment industry, the term of exclusive contracts between artists and companies usually does not exceed 7 years, according to the proposal of the Korean Fair Competition Commission since 2009.
BLACKPINK's contract status also had a big impact on YG Entertainment's stocks. When news of Lisa's possible departure from the company spread, YG's stocks fell 5.83% to close at 74,300 won as rumors of contract renewal problems spread on social media.
Furthermore, after all the members of boy group Big Bang left YG in June 2023, BLACKPINK became the company's sole source of income. YG is actively promoting other artists such as Winner, AKMU, and Treasure, along with preparing to debut a new girl group called BabyMonster to replace BLACKPINK in the future. Challenges and opportunities are ahead for YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK in the near future.
