Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said Vietnam and Japan need to strengthen political trust, economic ties, and coordinate in international forums to implement the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In an interview about the results of President Vo Van Thuong's official visit to Japan on November 27-30, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the two countries need to focus on implementing the new framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with three key points, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first focus is that Vietnam and Japan continue to strengthen political trust through maintaining annual high-level exchanges and contacts, creating a solid foundation for bilateral relations in all fields.

The two countries also need to outline directions for implementing relations in specific areas in the second priority of cooperation. Regarding strengthening economic ties, Japan will continue to support Vietnam in industrialization, modernization, building an independent and self-reliant economy, and continue to provide new-generation ODA to Vietnam.

Japan will also create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain of its enterprises, as well as promote the implementation of large-scale, high-quality investment projects in Vietnam, including agriculture.

The two countries will promote expanded cooperation in new areas such as semiconductors, innovation, technology transfer, digital transformation, and green transformation. Japan will support Vietnam in effectively implementing its commitments, including achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The two sides will also strengthen human resource connectivity, promote people-to-people exchange and local cooperation, creating understanding, trust, and effective and substantive cooperation.

The third cooperation priority is that the two sides continue to closely coordinate at regional and international organizations and forums such as the United Nations, ASEAN, Mekong, and APEC.

"I believe that within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Vietnam-Japan relationship will develop strongly and substantially in all areas, especially in the three priority areas of cooperation mentioned above, meeting the interests of both sides and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world," Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed.
