Minister Nguyen Kim Son had a meeting with the Steering Committee for the High School Graduation Exam in Hanoi. Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the Exam in Hanoi and Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training attended the meeting and discussed with representatives of 30 districts, towns and cities in Hanoi.
Hanoi : Over 124,000 candidates take high school graduation exam this year
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that in the 2025 high school graduation exam, Hanoi still ranked first in the number of candidates taking the exam, with over 124,000 candidates, of which 121,505 were candidates studying the 2018 general education program, and 2,565 were candidates studying the 2006 general education program.
Hanoi has 233 exam sites with over 5,500 exam rooms. Currently, many high schools in Hanoi are under repair, so for the upcoming exam, Hanoi will use many middle schools as exam sites.
To serve the exam, Hanoi mobilized about 18,000 people in the stages of exam supervision, marking, inspection and security forces around the perimeter. Of these, there were over 16,000 exam supervisors, about 800 exam markers and over 1,000 police officers participating in exam protection.
Discussing the difficulties of this year's exam, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that 2025 is the first year to organize the graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program with many new points (about exam subjects, exam format structure, rate of using learning assessment results in graduation recognition...), so teachers and candidates are still confused.
The task of printing and securing exam papers in Hanoi is more difficult due to the large number of candidates. The exam has 2 groups of students studying the 2018 general education program and the 2006 general education program. Of which, the number of candidates taking the 2006 program accounts for a large proportion compared to other localities. The number of exam papers must be printed with many exam codes according to each exam session and each type of program.
"The number of multiple choice tests in Hanoi alone is about 450,000. Hanoi must increase the number of marking machines and marking staff to ensure the progress set by the Ministry of Education and Training," said Mr. Cuong.
Need to have a plan to cope with unusual weather
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son highly appreciated Hanoi's initiatives during the exam preparation period, such as sending good teachers to guide students to review on Hanoi Television, organizing teachers to tutor teachers and students to tutor students during the review process to support and tutor students with poor academic performance.
The Minister noted that Hanoi has plans to prevent situations such as heavy rain and flooding on the roads and at the exam sites to ensure smooth exam organization and convenience for candidates.
The Minister emphasized that the 2025 high school graduation exam has many new and special features, so localities cannot be subjective or negligent. They must have plans and control each stage and each specific task to ensure the exam is conducted seriously.
Ms. Vu Thu Ha shared that currently, officials and leaders of sectors in Hanoi and other localities are all straining to carry out the task of streamlining and merging. However, all are still united and determined to carry out the exam, ensuring seriousness and safety at all stages.

Previously, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong and the inspection team of the Ministry of Education and Training inspected the place where the exam papers were printed and copied in Hanoi and the exam site of Trung Vuong Secondary School (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).
The first place Deputy Minister Thuong inspected at the Trung Vuong Secondary School exam site was the medical room. He highly appreciated Hanoi's careful preparation, but still reminded the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to pay attention to having enough equipment and medicine at each exam site, and to have a prevention plan in case of an epidemic or incident related to the health of candidates during the exam, especially in the context of harsh weather, which can affect the health of candidates. The organization of the exam must be serious and in accordance with regulations, but must always pay attention to creating favorable conditions for candidates.
Hanoi: Widely applying digital maps to search for exam locations
According to Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the digital map for searching exam locations has been tested by Hanoi since the recent 10th grade entrance exam, and is expected to be widely applied in the high school graduation exam. With this application, parents and candidates can more easily locate exam locations and see the route to the exam locations. The digital map also updates information about exam locations, phone numbers, and names of exam site managers and deputy managers.
"With the digital map, we hope to provide good support for parents and candidates to limit the situation of candidates going to the wrong exam location as has happened before," said Mr. Cuong.
