On the morning of May 23, the Ministry of Health held a national online conference to evaluate the peak period of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the health sector.

The Ministry of Health has also signed a next phase coordination program with the Ministry of Public Security to rectify the work of preventing counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin as in the past, affecting the lives and health of people.

In practice, authorities have discovered many lines and products that violate the law, including the staff directly involved in this issue, which have been brought to legal action.

Regarding recent cases, the Minister admitted that the implementation of post-inspection by localities has not been strict. Meanwhile, according to the law, regarding goods managed by localities, post-inspection must be organized and any difficulties must be reported.

The Ministry of Health is focusing on developing two decrees on the division of implementation authority according to the two-level government, and a decree on decentralization and delegation of power.

According to the Minister, the spirit is that the Ministry decentralizes maximum authority to localities to carry out practical tasks. The Ministry focuses on developing documents, laws, and guidelines for implementation. Thus, the role of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Health is increasingly heavier.

"Now people are very confused, going out on the street not knowing which products are allowed to circulate, which products are fake or counterfeit. Therefore, applying information technology, enhancing the responsibility of agencies, including businesses is very important to solve the fundamental problem in the long term, otherwise it will be difficult for the implementation process," the Minister emphasized.

At the same time, the media helps people understand the regulations and which products are fake, counterfeit, and substandard.

"Business units need to be aware of their role and responsibility to produce the right, quality products. We do not need a chaotic market, flooded with fake, substandard products," Minister Lan added.

The Ministry's viewpoint on handling counterfeit goods in the healthcare sector is to fight fiercely, handle them strictly, without any forbidden areas or exceptions. The fight against counterfeit goods and trade fraud is a difficult, complicated and long-term task, requiring the synchronous and drastic participation of all levels, sectors and the whole society.
