Specifically, Andrew Moore, founder of Lovelace AI, who previously held the position of Vice President of AI at Google Cloud, will support CENTCOM in AI applications, data collection and structure, and network-related algorithms.
“We’re going to put him out there looking at all the issues to bring his expertise around AI, robotics, cloud, and other alternative infrastructure processes,” said CENTCOM technical director Schuyler Moore.
The US is currently testing the “Global Dominance Information System”, promoting the enhancement of digital warfare capabilities, data integration and fusion. Since the beginning of the year, the Pentagon has conducted four exercises focusing on high-speed data sharing.
Last May, Andrew Moore testified before lawmakers on the Senate Armed Services Committee’s Cybersecurity Subcommittee, arguing that the United States is falling behind its competitors in AI initiatives if it does not invest in the field.
The former Google Cloud executive will take on CENTCOM's work as part of the Defense Department's larger “Joint All-Domain Command and Control” (JADC) effort, which is being led by Craig Martell, the former CEO of startup Lyft.
