Journalist Vu Manh Cuong told Tuoi Tre Online about his feelings as well as behind-the-scenes stories at the studio of Vietnam National Defense Television on the day of the live broadcast of this event.
After the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War was broadcast, many viewers praised Mr. Vu Manh Cuong's political, emotional, and easy-to-understand voice.
Mr. Cuong said, "Maybe the audience is too favorable; many editors of TV stations have a more professional demeanor and better voices than me."
“I have little experience"
“As the head of the International Department of Lao Dong newspaper , I participated in writing many international commentary articles, and was then invited by Vietnam Television to discuss international issues in the program World Panorama on VTV1 in the early 2010s, so compared to others, I have a little more experience speaking and commenting in front of the camera or on set,” he modestly shared.
Mr. Cuong said that after being entrusted with the task by the Military Radio and Television Center ( Ministry of National Defense ), he spent two weeks reviewing previous parade programs in Russia, learning about the military units participating in the parade as well as collecting information about new weapons and equipment that will be introduced on this occasion.
Ten years ago, he participated in hosting and commentating live on the military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on the National Defense Television Channel.
Commenting with Mr. Cuong that year was Associate Professor Dr. Elena Zubtsova, one of Russia's leading Vietnam scholars, who was then the director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi.
For him, this year's Victory Day parade in the Great Patriotic War is a very special event.

"Not only is this a very important milestone in human history, this is the first time the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam has been invited to attend, and it is also the first time the Vietnam People's Army has been invited to participate in the parade."
Being attached to and loving the former Soviet Union (today's Russian Federation), when he received the invitation after 10 years, he accepted immediately.
“I feel responsible for being a bridge to help Vietnamese audiences fully access this important event, thereby conveying the spirit of patriotism, international cooperation and love of peace,” said Mr. Cuong.

The whole studio burst into emotion.
Mr. Vu Manh Cuong participated in live commentary of the parade at S1 studio of the National Defense Television Channel in Hanoi.
The unit invited to the studio more than 200 audiences - people who lived, worked and studied in countries of the former Soviet Union as well as students of military schools in the capital Hanoi.
When seeing the image of General Secretary To Lam, his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the Vietnamese Army appearing on Red Square, the entire audience in the studio stood up and cheered, creating a very intense emotion.
“At that time, I was really overwhelmed and emotional, so I couldn't speak fluently,” he recalled.
In recent times, the Vietnam People's Army has carried out many important international missions such as peacekeeping, search and rescue, or participating in Army Games (International Military Sports Festival)... leaving a good impression on people around the world.
He commented that the appearance of the Vietnam People's Army at Red Square is a special milestone showing the remarkable maturity of our army, affirming that our army will do very well in other difficult tasks.
“The red flag with a yellow star fluttering in Red Square is a beautiful image, symbolizing the growth of Vietnam in general and the Vietnam People's Army in particular,” said Mr. Vu Manh Cuong.

Vietnam is a peace-loving country.
According to Mr. Cuong, this year's parade shows that Russia respects the historical values as well as the contributions of 15 countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as allied countries that participated in the common struggle of the people against fascism.
Vietnam was one of the allied countries that participated in that common event and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War opened up an opportunity for our country to successfully carry out the August Revolution and establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
“The presence of the leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese army on this occasion is an affirmation that Vietnam also shares and respects the values of history and humanity; at the same time affirms that Vietnam is a country loyal to its friends and brothers,” he shared.
This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to reaffirm its traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Russia, and affirm that Vietnam is a peace-loving nation, that Vietnam is making steady progress and is ready to participate in world affairs.
