Accordingly, at the meeting with Mr. Brendan Nelson, Senior Vice President of Boeing Corporation and President of Boeing Global on the afternoon of May 12 at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam attaches importance to developing the aviation industry with many airports under construction in many provinces and cities, and many flight routes restored and opened after the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, with the trend of peace, cooperation and development in the world and with people's living standards increasingly improving, the need for communication and travel is increasing, Vietnam has many potentials and advantages to develop tourism, the aviation industry and the aviation economy have more potential and conditions for development in the coming decades.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam considers Boeing an important and long-term partner in developing the civil aviation industry; thanked Boeing for supporting the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to meet the standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration, creating conditions to allow the opening of direct flights between the two countries; and appreciated Boeing for its flexible approach to maintaining aircraft supply agreements for Vietnamese airlines in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and instability in the international aviation industry.

Boeing is requested to continue to accompany and support Vietnam in developing the aviation industry with a long-term, strategic vision, suitable to the conditions of Vietnam as a developing country, an economy in transition in the spirit of "win-win", "harmonious benefits, shared risks"; support Vietnamese airlines in developing medium and long-term fleet development plans, meeting proposals on aircraft delivery deadlines according to signed contracts, and improving conditions for negotiating new contracts.

The Prime Minister also asked Boeing to continue supporting the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam in the fields of aviation safety, flight operations management and airport operations management; supporting the development of the aviation ecosystem in Vietnam, establishing more facilities and partners to provide components, technical services, and maintenance in Vietnam.

Boeing Senior Vice President Brendan Nelson assessed Vietnam as a top important partner, due to Vietnam's increasingly important position in the region, with the vision of its leaders, a population of 100 million people, rapid economic growth, the ability to attract foreign investment and the signing of free trade agreements with many major markets in the world.

Mr. Brendan Nelson highly appreciated the commitment and efforts of the Vietnamese Government in achieving the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, saying that Vietnam has great potential in developing the aviation industry, especially sustainable aviation fuel, with increasingly qualified human resources.

He highly agreed and said that Boeing will actively consider implementing the cooperation proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, affirming that Boeing will continue to expand investment and cooperation in Vietnam with a long-term commitment, strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese airlines and partners, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam's aviation industry and aviation industry, contributing to the comprehensive Vietnam-US relationship.
