Formerly the Deputy Director General of the Cambodian Sports Department, Mr. Prum Buny served as the head of the Cambodian sports delegation to numerous SEA Games since 1995, including 2003 when Vietnam first hosted the Southeast Asian Games. Notably, his first involvement with university sports was at the 2006 Southeast Asian University Games held in Hanoi. He recalled: "I still particularly remember the Games in Hanoi, because it was the first time I led a university sports delegation. It was a beautiful memory, with Vietnam brimming with enthusiasm after successfully hosting the 2003 SEA Games, possessing excellent facilities and a team of experienced officials. Therefore, in 2025, I am very happy to return to Vietnam when Life University represents Cambodia in a Southeast Asian student football tournament."

Always present in the stands at Ton Duc Thang University to watch the University of Life team train and compete, as well as follow the matches, Mr. Prum Buny expressed his delight amidst the vibrant atmosphere of student football. The experienced team leader thanked the organizing committee for building a bridge of friendship for ASEAN student football: "This is a very good tournament for young people and students as football has been used to connect ASEAN universities. As a member of the guest delegation along with the University of Life (Cambodia), we would like to thank the organizing committee for opening a playing field for student football teams in Southeast Asia. This tournament is clearly a great opportunity for the students of the University of Life. We hope the organizing committee will continue to maintain this tournament annually to develop the student football movement in the region."
Of the three invited teams that reached the semi-finals, only the Cambodian representative used students from Life University. Mr. Prum Buny stated that the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Sports and Tourism had discussed and agreed with Life University and the Cambodian Football Federation on this solution, instead of creating a combined team from many different universities. This overseas trip by Life University's team also marks the first time a Cambodian university has competed abroad. Mr. Prum Buny said that Life University gained a lot of valuable experience, a clear understanding of the differences between teams, and will be better prepared for their next return. Specifically, he revealed: "Cambodia is making progress in football in general and school football in particular. The University of Life team is the champion of the 2024 Cambodian High School Football Tournament, which is held every two years. It is very likely that from next year we will organize a national student tournament annually, instead of students having to wait two years. In this year's tournament, the University of Life team played very well, with an impressive performance, showing that a small football nation can still achieve good results. Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian football are still leading Southeast Asia, but the rest are still trying their best to develop."
