In her previous identity card, my wife's name was written as Nguyen Thi G. (Nguyen Thi Hong G.); But her working name and the name written on other documents were all Nguyen Thi Hong G. I don't know why, but maybe it was written that way to make it look more polished and impressive. Therefore, when doing procedures, buying plane tickets..., my wife always used Nguyen Thi Hong G., the name she has always used.
Recently, my wife and I had a trip to Hanoi , we booked tickets online. On the day of departure, we returned to the airport and presented our citizen identification card (CCCD) to check in. I passed, but my wife was refused. Too surprised, I asked why, the airport staff showed me the CCCD and explained: "The name is not correct. The name on the CCCD is Nguyen Thi G., and the name registered to buy the ticket is Nguyen Thi Hong G., these two people are different." I turned to ask my wife. She also widened her eyes: "This is not my fault. Because the day before when I went to get the CCCD, I declared 2 names as in the old ID card, but the police officer doing the procedure said, on the ID card, I only need to take 1 name Nguyen Thi G., and Nguyen Thi Hong G. as well as all related personal information are entered into the system, the authorities need to check it and it will come out, no need to worry...".

Dad is annoying, I asked the airport staff to check the information on the system for me, but the airport staff said it was impossible, the airport could not do that. After arguing back and forth, and the flight time was near, I asked if there was any solution now, and was "advised" to go to the airline counter to explain, if not, then change the ticket. Of course, if there were still tickets, they could be changed, otherwise, this ticket had to be canceled - We were warned! Oh my gosh, it was complicated. The couple rushed to the airline counter. And the final result was having to pay an additional 300,000 VND to get a new ticket for the one-way trip.
It has been a long time since Hanoi returned to Hue , but the matter of paying for the ticket... was so rude that it made my wife feel upset. So today, wherever she went, or needed to do any transaction that required documents, she had to bring along her old ID card, even though it was "cut at the corner" and no longer valid. "If there is any problem, there is still something to "check", but if you just show your ID card, then stand there and explain, arguing, it will be until the Congo New Year." - I laughed at her "sister's" foresight, but then quietly looked for my "cut at the corner" ID card. It's better to be safe than sorry, it's a bit tight on the wallet, but oh well, just keep it in, who knows, it might be useful someday...
