As a model new rural commune, Vu Di (Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province ) now boasts many spacious, clean roads and multi-story houses with bright red tiled roofs.
Over the years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Vu Di commune (Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province) have joined forces and worked together to mobilize and utilize all resources for the task of completing the construction of a model rural commune with the motto "The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, and the people benefit."
Vu Di commune, covering an area of 3.78 km2, is located in the center of Vinh Tuong district (Vinh Phuc province), with National Highway 2C running through it. This land is rich in cultural, revolutionary, and historical traditions, and is the birthplace of two renowned heroes, Doi Can and Le Xoay – who made significant contributions to the building and protection of the country.
Vu Di boasts numerous colorful murals. The old, monotonous walls have been replaced with vibrant images of the countryside and the nation, adding beauty to the rural landscape. To date, the commune has been recognized as a model new rural area. The face of the countryside has changed significantly; infrastructure has been invested in and improved, and the environment is green, clean, and beautiful.
100% of the village roads and alleys have been concreted, with drainage ditches for wastewater, and street lighting reaching every corner. In Vu Di commune, multi-story buildings are now springing up everywhere, many houses boasting a spacious and modern appearance.
Household waste is directly collected and processed by the commune's environmental sanitation team. The public lighting system on the roads has been completely upgraded, ensuring it meets standards and facilitates convenient nighttime travel for residents. On some roads, traffic warning lights are also equipped with solar panels, saving energy while remaining environmentally friendly.
People are actively applying Industry 4.0 technology in trade and commerce. Most businesses now use QR code payment methods in addition to cash. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bao (58 years old) said that since her store adopted QR code scanning, business has become much more convenient, and revenue has increased accordingly. "Customers who scan the code account for the majority, so it's easier for me to keep track of and reconcile daily revenue, and I don't have to worry about making mistakes with cash," Ms. Bao said.
Vu Di commune prioritizes the development of agricultural production linked to restructuring the agricultural sector and shifting the rural economic structure. The commune has two main agricultural products: pumpkins and red-fleshed dragon fruit, with a total cultivated area of over 22 hectares. In the photo, the dragon fruit garden is being tended to and pruned by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hien's wife in preparation for the new season. The dragon fruit crop brings the family an income of approximately 500 million VND per year.
Security camera systems have been installed throughout the neighborhoods; public places and households are also covered by 3G and 4G networks; nearly 70% of adult citizens have online payment accounts; and 100% of the population has electronic health records. The majority of households have assigned address codes to digital map platforms, determining their coordinates via GPS to integrate with other utility services such as epidemiological maps, disease-free zone maps, tourist maps, and educational maps.
Completing the model new rural development program is one of the outstanding achievements that has brought a new turning point to Vu Di commune. Thanks to this, the lives of the people have improved significantly, gradually making this locality one of the exemplary communes of Vinh Tuong district in particular and Vinh Phuc province in general.
