The World Travel Awards organizing committee has just honored Vietnam's Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark as the " World's Leading Cultural Destination 2025, " during the awards ceremony in Bahrain last night, December 6.
Present at the ceremony to receive this title, Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee Phan Huy Ngoc shared that the title is not only the pride of the locality but also the world's recognition of the efforts to preserve and promote heritage values. The award is an important motivation for Tuyen Quang to continue pursuing the goal of building tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the coming years.
Named for the first time in the world-class cultural category, Dong Van Stone Plateau has affirmed its position and attraction from the efforts to preserve heritage values not only of the locality, but also contributed to affirming the stature, international competitiveness and increasingly prominent position of Vietnamese tourism.
Previously, Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark was recognized by UNESCO in 2010, preserving the Earth's evolutionary history of more than 550 million years, converging diverse values of geology, culture and community life.
The karst system (a weathering phenomenon typical of limestone mountains eroded by flowing water), paleontological sites, caves, fossils and sedimentary layers piled up over hundreds of millions of years have created a rare geological wonder on the globe.

Not only that, Dong Van is also a cultural space of 17 ethnic minorities in Vietnam living together and creating a unique, multi-layered cultural value system. Indigenous architecture, rituals, folk knowledge, music, language and traditional crafts form the cultural characteristics of each community.
In addition to Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, World Travel Awards also honored Vietnam as the “World’s Leading Heritage Destination.” Moc Chau and Tam Dao also won in the categories of “World’s Leading Regional Natural Destination,” and “World’s Leading Town Destination.” In Phu Quoc, Kem Beach and Hoang Hon Town received the awards for “World’s Leading Regional Beach” and “Iconic Tourist Destination,” respectively.
World Travel Awards (WTA), established in 1993, is one of the most prestigious awards in the global tourism industry. After 3 decades, World Travel Awards has affirmed the prestige, service quality and attractiveness of destinations on the world tourism map voted by the award.
