The conflict between the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI) and Miss Grand Cambodia broke out on the evening of October 6, surprising many viewers. Just a few days after the competition, Miss Grand International 2024 in Cambodia encountered trouble when both sides simultaneously issued announcements indicating a breakdown in cooperation.

The Miss Grand Cambodia organization officially announced: “We regret to announce that Miss Grand Cambodia will no longer continue the copyright with Miss Grand International due to the organization’s disrespect of Cambodia as the host country and its lack of cooperation.” In response, MGI said that Cambodia will no longer be the host country of this year’s contest because “the organizer did not meet the standards set by MGI.”

Miss Grand Cambodia then held a livestream to explain the incident in more detail. According to the organizing team, they had a specific plan for the location and time of the contest. However, Mr. Nawat – Chairman of MGI – kept changing the requirements, forcing the Cambodian side to adjust to these changes.

One of the typical incidents was the preparation for the boat tour, which was not in the original plan. Although Cambodia tried to arrange everything, the bad weather forced them to pack up. When Mr. Nawat arrived and found everything was not ready, he was not satisfied and did not accept the explanation from the Cambodian team.

Miss Grand International 2024 is the 12th edition of the pageant, with 75 contestants from around the world competing. The final is scheduled to take place on October 25. Despite the troubles in Cambodia, the contestants will continue with the competition in Thailand.
