According to the Telegraph , Amorim is raising training standards in an effort to help United avoid another disappointing season in the Premier League. Specifically, the Portuguese coach pledged to name players who are not working hard in training in front of the whole team.
To aid Amorim’s analysis, the club provides him with access to the latest technology, which allows for detailed tracking and real-time data updates, providing up to five million data points with 100% accuracy over the course of 90 minutes of play.
The STATSports Apex 2.0 GPS performance tracking shirts will give Amorim a clear picture of who is working hard on the pitch and who is not. The technology will be used during training sessions and matches. The devices will be installed throughout the Carrington training complex, allowing coaches and assistants to easily monitor and access data instantly via iPads.
As well as monitoring performance, Amorim is also looking to prevent injuries ahead of the new season. United have had a high injury rate in the past two years. The new technology will also indicate when players are at high risk of injury, helping the coaching staff adjust training and match load accordingly.
MU will face Fiorentina on August 9, before preparing to welcome Arsenal in round 1 of the 2025/26 Premier League on August 17.
