A clear step forward in the quality of Vietnamese language of ethnic minority children in Nghe An

On the afternoon of November 10, the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An held an online conference to summarize the Project "Enhancing Vietnamese language for preschool children and primary school students in ethnic minority areas in the period 2016-2020, with a vision to 2025" based on the mother tongue in the province.

The main bridge is at the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, connecting with bridges at kindergartens and primary schools with ethnic minority students in the area.

Clear, positive changes

In recent years, despite many difficulties, the implementation of the project "Enhancing Vietnamese language for preschool children and primary school students in ethnic minority areas in the period 2016-2020, with a vision to 2025" has received special attention from all levels, sectors and localities.

Thanks to that, after nearly 10 years of implementation, the project implementation has been maintained, consolidated and expanded effectively in 126 kindergartens and 145 primary schools in 62 mountainous communes. The main goals and targets of the project have all been completed or exceeded, making an important contribution to improving the quality of education in ethnic minority areas, narrowing the gap in language and learning opportunities, while preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups in the province.

In addition, thanks to the implementation of the project, the awareness of managers, teachers and parents about the significance of enhancing Vietnamese has been significantly raised. 100% of kindergartens and primary schools in ethnic minority areas have developed plans to implement the project, integrating the content of enhancing Vietnamese into educational activities. Many creative models and methods have been replicated, such as "Vietnamese Language Festival", "Friendly Library", "Vietnamese Corner", "Vietnamese Speaking Club"... contributing to creating a lively and close learning environment for ethnic minority students.

The teaching staff is trained to improve their capacity to organize activities to enhance Vietnamese; specialized training courses and inter-school and inter-school professional activities are organized regularly. Many ethnic minority teachers have played a good role as a bridge, helping students overcome language barriers. Along with that, facilities and teaching equipment have been invested in, especially in remote schools and remote areas.

At the conference, the presentations at the grassroots level also shared many solutions and experiences in the implementation process. In addition, they also pointed out the difficulties due to the limited socio -economic conditions of the ethnic minority areas; many schools are far away, the roads are difficult to travel, the people's lives are still poor, and there is a lack of Vietnamese language learning materials suitable for the cultural and linguistic characteristics of each ethnic group.

Continue to promote the effectiveness of the project

Concluding the conference, Ms. Ho Thi Chau Loan - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the schools. In the coming time, the Department requested the People's Committees of communes to continue reviewing the results of the Project implementation for the period 2020 - 2025, and develop a specific plan for the period 2025 - 2030, suitable to the practical conditions of each locality.

In particular, it is necessary to focus on land use planning, developing a network of schools in line with development trends; allocating clean land for educational institutions, consolidating remote schools, and prioritizing the use of surplus facilities after mergers for preschool education. At the same time, apply the Party and State's policies and guidelines for education to strengthen facilities for schools.

Strengthen communication work, socialization of education, synchronously direct departments, branches and organizations in the area to enhance Vietnamese language for preschool and primary school students. Strengthen inspection and direction work, especially the implementation of policies for students, teachers, and boarding management work of educational institutions in the area to ensure completeness, timeliness and compliance with regulations.

For preschool and primary education institutions in ethnic minority areas, it is necessary to build a friendly Vietnamese language environment, associated with national cultural identity, and encourage the use of local cultural and linguistic elements in educational activities. Innovate educational content and methods, flexibly apply language development models, qualities and competencies for students in accordance with the characteristics of each region and each ethnic group. Strengthen activities to develop reading culture and apply information technology in teaching Vietnamese, promote the effectiveness of green library and digital library activities in preschool and primary education institutions...

On this occasion, 20 collectives and 39 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Director of the Department of Education and Training for their good performance in implementing phase 2 of the Project "Enhancing Vietnamese language for preschool children and primary school students in ethnic minority areas in the period 2016-2020, oriented to 2025" on the basis of the mother tongue of children in the province.

After nearly 10 years of implementing the project, the quality of Vietnamese language of preschool children and primary school students in ethnic minority areas in Nghe An has made remarkable progress. The rate of 5-year-old preschool children completing the program is over 98%; primary school students of ethnic minorities can read and write Vietnamese fluently is 100%. Students are more confident in communication, actively participate in learning activities and Youth Union - Pioneer movements. Many highland schools have become bright spots in the movement "Building friendly schools, active students".
