With an impressive design bearing the imprint of Renaissance, Gothic and Oriental architectural styles, the more than 1 century-old Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office was selected in 2nd place in the list of 11 most beautiful post offices in the world by the American Architectural Digest magazine.

Architectural Digest says the beauty of a post office often lies in its function: It connects people, no matter where they are in the world . However, post office design is often not as important as other public buildings, such as palaces or parliament buildings. But that doesn't mean that post offices with beautiful architecture don't exist.

Through a survey around the world, Architectural Digest has found 11 post offices with the most beautiful architecture. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office of Vietnam ranked 2nd on this list.

With the image of a yellow building and prominent blue windows, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office is one of the most beautiful architectural buildings in the heart of the city.

The central post office was built from 1886 to 1891 by the famous French architect Gustave Eiffel - famous for designing the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. In 1891, a new post office headquarters was officially inaugurated. This place marks the mark of Vietnamese - French culture, and at the same time witnessed many historical ups and downs.

Ho Chi Minh City Post Office is over a century old, meticulously designed with sophisticated details bearing Western influences combined with Eastern decorations.

From the outside, the building stands out with its characteristic arched door system, the highlight is the clock right in the middle of the main gate, highlighting the nostalgic classical beauty of this place. Visiting inside the post office, besides the characteristic arched architecture, visitors will be attracted by the reliefs with elaborate embossed patterns, the historical maps of the city are meticulously and delicately carved. On both sides of the entrance are rows of straight green iron columns and shiny brown wooden chairs.

The special dome design creates a nostalgic and spacious feeling for visitors. The post office still retains old mailboxes, telephone booths, souvenirs such as stamps or old letters.

With its unique architecture and historical value, Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office is not only a place providing postal services, but also a special place that attracts domestic and international tourists to visit, learn and take photos to check-in.

In 2019, the American magazine Insider also ranked Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office in the list of 20 most beautiful post offices in the world.
