British University Vietnam (BUV) offers Bachelor's programs in Game Design and Programming, and Game Graphics, based on the curriculum of Staffordshire University (UK).

BUV provides students with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare them for entry into the promising job market through its Bachelor of Game Design and Programming and Game Graphics programs from Staffordshire University. The university uses a curriculum and ensures teaching quality equivalent to that of degree-awarding institutions in the UK.

Currently, Staffordshire University ranks 7th in the world for game design and development, and is one of the top 10 young universities in the UK for employment prospects. It also has one of the largest Games Departments in the UK.

"The long-standing partnership between the two universities can provide Vietnamese students with world-class game development programs and opportunities for growth in the field," a BUV representative said.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications , in 2023, the Vietnamese gaming industry generated $600 million in revenue and aims to reach $1 billion within five years. Therefore, to contribute to the development of this industry, a representative from BUV shared that, based on the industry's prospects, current human resource needs in Vietnam and worldwide, and with the support of the Government, expanding BUV's academic offerings is a proactive step towards the future.

In particular, the Bachelor of Game Graphics program focuses on producing and building high-quality graphics based on the needs of the game industry. This is also one of the six new training programs that BUV will introduce starting from the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Bachelor of Game Design and Programming program provides students with in-depth knowledge of professional game development tools, prototyping, and gameplay experiences; essential skills to seize opportunities and develop their career profiles.

These two programs employ experiential learning and project-based approaches to optimize understanding of the game development process. As a result, students can build innovative game projects through assignments and tests, while also having the opportunity to participate in game development projects under the evaluation and guidance of faculty and industry experts.

The British University Vietnam also provides a modern learning and practice environment with a real-world Game Studio. The facilities here meet various training requirements. These include the Computer Lab and the Game Design and Programming Room, equipped with high-configuration computers and 27-inch monitors that can be adjusted in height and rotation as needed. The Motion Capture Studio features a green screen (Chroma Key) system, professional cameras, and virtual reality (VR) glasses.

In addition, the school provides students with opportunities for practical experience through workshops, competitions, etc. For example, in the "Game Jam" challenge, which requires students to create a game in 44 consecutive hours, students have the chance to be creative and hone their thinking and teamwork skills. The submitted projects are directly reviewed and evaluated by experts from renowned game corporations and studios worldwide.

Previously, BUV exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Innovation Center (NIC) on strategic cooperation, including providing game development personnel for Vietnam. The university established BUV GamePad - a Center for Innovation, Investment, and Startup Incubation for projects in game programming, design, and graphics. Through this, the university aims to create a launching pad for young talents, attracting and training leading figures in the industry in the future.
