The meeting was attended by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Binh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Central Lung Hospital, Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the National Tuberculosis Control Program in Vietnam; Mr. Mao Tan Eang, Deputy Minister of Health of Cambodia; Mr. Oum Sopheap, Chairman of the KHANA Board of Directors; Mr. Chan Yuda Huot, Director of the Cambodian National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Center (CENAT).

Mr. Mao Tan Eang, Deputy Minister of Health of Cambodia, emphasized that Cambodia always wants to learn from the experience of Vietnam, specifically Ca Mau province, in the work of preventing and controlling tuberculosis. At the same time, Cambodia wants to strengthen the testing capacity, reporting system, access to preventive treatment for people with latent tuberculosis, as well as build community health coordination processes like Ca Mau has done.
Mr. Mao Tan Eang, Deputy Minister of Health of Cambodia, hopes that Ca Mau will support the Cambodian health sector in treating and managing tuberculosis.
In recent years, with great efforts of the health sector and participants, tuberculosis prevention and control work in Ca Mau has achieved many positive results.
In 2024, the whole province detected nearly 1,600 new positive cases; this number shows the effectiveness of screening and detection work, which is then combined with early treatment to control and eventually end tuberculosis in the community.
MSc. Luu Boi Khanh, Manager of the Active Screening Program, Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, representing the ACT5 Project, reported the results at the meeting.
It is known that, in order to enhance detection and treatment capacity, Ca Mau province has coordinated to implement the ACT5 Project - a large intervention study, evaluating the effectiveness of a community screening model combined with latent TB treatment, along with proactive detection of active TB cases./.
