The whole country is speeding up the process of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

(QNO) - This morning, May 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the fourth meeting of the Central Steering Committee to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide.

The meeting was held online with 63 locations nationwide. At the Quang Nam location, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan co-chaired.

According to local reports, by May 7, 2025, the country had supported the elimination of nearly 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. Of these, 111,000 houses had been inaugurated and started construction; 98,000 houses were under construction.

Thus, to date, localities across the country have started and completed about 77% of temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be eliminated for all three target groups. Of which, poor and near-poor households under the Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program have the highest rate of start and completion, reaching about 80%.

As of May 7, 15 localities no longer have temporary or dilapidated houses; it is expected that by the end of May 2025, 21 localities will have completed the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; by the end of June 2025, when the preliminary review is held, 37 localities will have completed the program, accounting for about 58%.

Regarding the mobilization of support funds, up to now, ministries, agencies, units and enterprises have transferred more than 3,142/3,464 billion VND. The Central Fund for the Poor has received more than 84 billion VND to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.

Localities have also mobilized more than 1,807 billion VND from social sources; contributed more than 1,074 billion VND from households; mobilized more than 244,240 working days, along with other sources of support for construction materials...

For Quang Nam, since the Prime Minister launched the program, the entire province has urgently implemented it. Up to now, the number of houses remaining to be implemented in 2025 is 2,831.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and members of the Steering Committee and localities acknowledged lessons learned, difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. The Prime Minister commended ministries, branches and localities for actively implementing the work of eliminating temporary housing.

The Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to immediately review households with revolutionary contributions, with the spirit of granting land to those without land. Continue to clarify difficulties, obstacles and challenges in implementing the program; especially in the context of merging provincial administrative boundaries, abolishing the district level and rearranging commune-level administrative units.

The Prime Minister requested the Steering Committee to "think honestly, speak honestly, act honestly, and be truly effective so that people can enjoy real results" to basically complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide before October 31, 2025.
