Singer TUNG DUONG: I stay out of showbiz

Reporter: Tung Duong sings very well, but not everyone likes Tung Duong's singing. Do you find this strange?

- Singer TUNG DUONG: In my opinion, those who don't like my singing yet are because they haven't met me in real life. If they meet me, they will definitely change their minds (laughs). Just kidding, but everyone's musical preferences are different. So it's normal for some people to not like listening to me sing.

The two songs "Canh chim phuong" and "Dan men don't need to cry" make people on the same wavelength as Tung Duong laugh and cry. Are you disappointed that these songs didn't make it to the Top Trending?

- It's fun to be in the Top Trending, but if I don't, I still have a certain audience waiting for products like this. I follow a music genre that has a long-lasting vitality. I will still be passionate and enthusiastic about my own musical universe. But I also know how to create a balance for myself. Covering pop music is a way to balance what I like and what I sing for the audience.

Looking back on more than 20 years of singing, what are you most satisfied with?

- Being myself is what makes me happy. I am proud of 13 dedication awards, 13 live shows and many albums that have left their mark on music listeners. However, to say I am satisfied with myself is not enough, because I understand my strengths and weaknesses. With a spirit of learning, I always aim for creativity but do not lose my own identity.

. Tung Duong is a star, that is clear. But is his position as stable as his performance, because there are many promising young singers nowadays?

- Healthy competition is a positive thing, helping artists improve. Everyone will have their own value and be able to thrive in their own musical sky. Just give your all and you will always receive the true value that you have created.

. From where and since when did Tung Duong sing so deeply and emotionally?

- I consider this a compliment but also an expectation that I must keep the fire burning. Time and life experience have given me the training to always sing well. My passion for art always urges me to truly live with the work. Every time I appear on stage, I always express to the fullest what the work has, regardless of the genre. I am proud and happy when expressing each thing, for example, when singing jazz it is jazz, when singing RnB it is RnB, when singing rock it is rock...

What was your most glorious period?

- Every achievement that comes to you is the most brilliant period, so enjoy it. The brilliance also passes very quickly if we stop, we think we have had enough, have reached the top.

. Tung Duong's success, if divided into percentages of luck, talent and effort, what would it be?

- I remember there was a talk show with artist Tran Hieu. When asked this exact question, Uncle Hieu and I gave opposite answers. I think 50% is natural talent, the remaining 45% is practice and learning, only 5% is luck. While my seniors think only 20% is natural talent, the rest is from learning. I am lucky to have natural talent, but if I don't practice and learn, I will fall behind very quickly.

For those who are not properly trained, do you think that after initial successes, they can go further?

- Always remember that in any era, you still have to be passionate and try your best to be able to reach success. We cannot be lucky forever if we do not have real talent. If you do not have proper training, you can still be successful. The most important thing is to set yourself a path to go in the right direction.

After more than 20 years of eating the family's rice, are you influenced by the vanity of showbiz?

- It's not right to say that I stay out of showbiz, but it's not wrong either because I still try to separate the bad from the good. After singing, I return to my family or travel to recharge my batteries.

Tung Duong's prediction about music trends in the coming years?

- For someone who doesn't follow trends like me, the prediction is not necessarily correct. But in my judgment, the trend will still focus on each individual's unique color. Young people of Gen Z and Gen Alpha will have their own worldview , always updating and developing according to the general flow of world music.

. In your opinion, which quality represents masculinity the most?

- The true character of a man is to live honestly, generously and righteously. If you try to calculate the pros and cons, women will leave you immediately (laughs)!

What are your plans for the future?

- After the release of the two MVs "Canh chim phuong" and "Dan men khong can khoc", these two songs are both in Tung Duong's upcoming new album called "Da vu", each song represents a universe. November 23 will be the 14th live show in his singing career. In this live show, Tung Duong and his crew will perform the theme "Nguoi man sang". I hope everything goes smoothly so I can sing loudly to serve my beloved fans.
