Large industrial plants shift electrical loads

According to Ba Ria-Vung Tau Electricity Company, by 2025, 370 customers of enterprises subject to load shifting (electricity usage of more than 1 million kWh/year and having an industrial production industry code) will proactively switch their electricity usage from peak hours to off-peak hours such as at night or on weekends.

To date, these customers have all signed load shifting agreements. Specifically, shifting 5-10% of capacity from the 2-4pm time slot every day to other time slots, avoiding the 9:30-11:30am and 5-10pm time slots. The estimated average shifting capacity is 280MW.

According to the electricity industry, load shifting has many benefits, such as reducing pressure on investment in resources, pressure on increasing electricity prices, etc. For customers, this helps save costs, reduce the number of sudden power outages when the system is overloaded; increase proactiveness in management and improve production and business efficiency.
