With a price range of 500,000-700,000 VND/kg, termite mushrooms are the most expensive mushrooms on the market. The wholesale price at the garden is also up to 400,000-500,000 VND/kg, causing many locals to quit other jobs to focus on picking mushrooms.

Natural scarcity is the main factor pushing up the price of termite mushrooms. Each termite nest only produces mushrooms once a year and cannot be cultivated artificially. Harvest time is only from 3-5 am, pickers have to race against time because when the sun rises, the quality of the mushrooms will decrease rapidly.

In particular, mushroom picking must only be done by hand to avoid disturbing the nest, affecting next year's crop.
