Universities join hands to support the people of Central Vietnam

In order to promptly share difficulties and accompany students and people in provinces affected by floods and natural disasters, many universities have had practical support policies such as extending tuition payment time, reducing tuition fees and providing study credit programs.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) announced four support policies for students in the Central and South Central regions severely affected by consecutive storms No. 11, 12 and 13. Accordingly, students with permanent residence in the five provinces of Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong will receive a 10% reduction in tuition fees for the final semester of 2025, deducted from the tuition fees for the first semester of 2026, and the payment period for the first semester of 2026 will be extended to January 25, 2026. For students of the 48th Class who have graduated, the support will be transferred directly to their accounts.

Previously, in early October, these policies were applied to students in 19 provinces and cities that suffered heavy damage caused by storm No. 10 (Bualoi). The total expected support resources over two phases are nearly 23 billion VND.

In addition, UEH offers 100 scholarships with a total value of more than 1.35 billion VND, of which 70 scholarships worth more than 14 million VND each are for students of courses 48, 49, 50 and 51 of regular university and the remaining 30 scholarships worth 12 million VND each for students of regular and first degree programs, and part-time study programs.

Students who have difficulty paying tuition fees can register to participate in the first semester 2026 learning credit programs implemented by the school in 2 forms: Tuition loan withOCB Oriental Commercial Joint Stock Bank, loan for up to 6 months with an interest rate of 7.5%/year with interest support policy from UEH; Installment payment via Sacombank credit card for students of all levels at UEH with 0% interest rate.

Hong Bang International University said it will consider and support students whose families suffered losses in the storms and floods in 2025. The beneficiaries are full-time students studying at the school in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year; with permanent residence in areas heavily affected by storms and floods in the Central and Northern provinces; families in difficult circumstances who suffered loss of life or property due to storms and floods in 2025, with confirmation from local authorities or a record of the incident between the Student Experience and Employment Center and students. The level of support will be based on the actual damage situation and the funding source from the school. Students must submit their applications at the Student Management Faculty office by November 26.

Many other higher education institutions also said they are reviewing the cases of students from localities affected by floods in the Central Highlands to have appropriate forms of support, specifically Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, University of Technical Education...

In addition, many schools called on lecturers, staff, employees, students and alumni to join hands to support people in flood-affected areas with practical actions such as receiving relief goods at the school to send to people in flood-affected areas such as the University of Finance - Marketing, Lac Hong University, University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh National University), Tay Nguyen University...

The People's Security University has established a working group of more than 100 officers, lecturers and students, coordinating with local police to overcome the consequences of floods; participating in relief and helping people in the Central provinces overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

More than 200 members and students of Quy Nhon University simultaneously joined forces to support people affected by the recent flood by cleaning up and collecting waste after the flood; arranging and preparing necessities; and helping people stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.

Khanh Hoa University is temporarily suspending training activities so that officials, employees and students can proactively overcome the consequences of floods at home and in the locality or participate in volunteer support activities in affected areas as assigned by the school until November 29.
