These days, like many other 12th graders, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao, a 12A1 student at Bui Duc Tai High School (Hai Lang) is actively reviewing to prepare for the upcoming exam. Although she is good at all subjects and has achieved many high academic achievements, Thao cannot help but worry about the changes in this year's high school graduation exam.
Right from the beginning of the school year, teachers have informed students about the new points of the exam such as: structure of the exam, number of exam sessions... According to Thao, this year's exam not only tests pure knowledge but also evaluates students' ability to apply, analyze, synthesize and solve problems.
Therefore, I spend a lot of time practicing different types of exercises, increasing the number of exercises that are related to real life, training critical thinking and reasoning skills. “This year's exam has many big changes, so the amount of knowledge that I have to review is also greater, forcing me to constantly change my study methods.
Recently, teachers have actively taught us to get familiar with the new structured questions. This helps us feel more confident and motivated in the upcoming important exam,” Thao shared.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Bui Duc Tai High School has 794 students, including 246 grade 12 students. In order to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the upcoming high school graduation exam and effectively implement the peak period of "50 days and nights of breakthrough, conquering the 2025 high school graduation exam" launched by the Department of Education and Training, the school has proposed many solutions.
Most notably, based on the results of the classification through the mock exams and the 6-term summary of the students, the school board directed teachers to develop lesson plans suitable for each group of students so that good students are inspired to study to make a breakthrough, and students with weaker academic performance still understand and grasp how to do the exercises. In addition, the school conducts a screening of students at risk of failing the graduation exam to assign teachers to increase support and tutoring.
Quang Tri province currently has 9,239 candidates registered for the exam, including 8,946 12th graders and 293 independent candidates. In order to stand side by side with students entering the exam with many important changes, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri has launched a peak period of "50 days and nights of breakthrough, conquering the 2025 high school graduation exam" taking place from May to June 2025. The peak period focuses on the goal of firmly consolidating high-ranking subjects, improving the rankings of subjects, bringing Quang Tri out of the group of 10 provinces with the lowest average scores. Strive to achieve a high school graduation rate of 98% or higher in the whole province in 2025. |
Teacher Truong Thi Thanh Ha, Literature teacher at Bui Duc Tai High School, said that the new points in the 2025 high school graduation exam both create advantages and create difficulties for both students and teachers.
“This year’s exam requires students to have flexible thinking, grasp the general theme of a group of works to relate to reality, instead of just memorizing a few works like previous years. Students who want to achieve high scores in Literature need to practice their ability to express themselves.
In the spirit of general direction, we are actively reviewing for the exam, at the same time helping students stabilize their psychology, avoiding excessive anxiety that will affect the exam results; building lesson plans that meet the students' level. Although we know it is difficult, with what has been done and is being done, we hope that the graduation rate of students at Bui Duc Tai High School in 2025 will exceed the set target," said Ms. Ha.
At Huong Hoa High School, Huong Hoa District, exam review work for students is also being promoted. The school mobilizes teachers in the school to volunteer to teach additional knowledge to students, especially those with weak academic performance. At the same time, students are allowed to approach and familiarize themselves with the exam questions early and review until the exam date. In 2025, Huong Hoa High School aims to achieve a 100% graduation rate; the average exam scores of subjects with students registering for the 2025 high school graduation exam are equal to or exceed the average exam scores of the above subjects of the Department.
Therefore, the peak period of "50 days and nights of breakthrough, conquering the high school graduation exam in 2025" was actively implemented by the staff, teachers and students of the whole school. Principal of Huong Hoa High School Le Chi Thong said that the school directed subject teachers to classify students to have appropriate review methods; focusing on helping students study at low and high levels of recognition - understanding - application, solving practical problems.
“For students, the school requires each student to voluntarily improve their learning awareness to achieve the goal of passing the graduation exam; participate in class, review in class and take online practice tests to get used to the pressure of the exam room and the structure of the exam. Students also need to maintain their physical and mental health,” emphasized Mr. Thong.
