"We handed over the suspect to Thai authorities this morning (January 11)," Cambodian National Police spokesman Chhay Kim Khoeun told AFP .
On January 10, Cambodian police arrested the suspect as he crossed the border from Thailand in Battambang province, which borders Thailand. Bangkok then requested Cambodia to hand him over to Thailand.
The suspect was identified as Ekkalak Pheanoi, while some Thai news agencies called him Ekkalak Paenoi and said he was a former Thai marine.
Previously, on January 9, Mr. Lim Kimya, a former lawmaker of the dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), was shot dead by a gunman on a motorbike as he arrived in Bangkok by bus from Cambodia with his French wife.
Cambodian opposition figures have accused a former powerful leader of involvement in the shooting, but a Cambodian government spokesman has denied the allegations. France has also condemned the killing of Lim Kimya, who also holds French citizenship.
