The current state of the apartment complex is degraded, the front and back walls are peeling off. Behind the apartment buildings, there is a foul smell from sewage and household waste.

Inside, each apartment has an area of ​​about 30 square meters, most households have added an extension behind the bathroom to use as a place to store kitchen utensils.

Many households said that due to the deterioration of the building, the lower floors had to suffer from water leakage from the toilets on the upper floors.

The extensions of the households are also rusty, causing unsafety for the households living below.

Behind the apartment buildings, household waste is dumped everywhere, and the leaking wastewater gives off a foul smell.

Rats live everywhere around the apartment complex.

Mr. Dinh Huu Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Minh Ward, said that the ward and district have proposed relocating this apartment building for many years. In 2021-2022, the People's Committee of Da Nang City agreed to organize construction quality inspection of 3 apartment buildings, including Hoa Minh apartment building.

According to the Inspection Report of the Da Nang Construction Quality Inspection Center, Hoa Minh apartment building is at level C danger level and is not yet in the list of urgent evacuation. However, to ensure the safety of residents as well as urban aesthetics, it is necessary to have a solution to relocate and rearrange the households living here.

Old, moldy walls

Inside Ms. Nguyen Thi Le's apartment of more than 30 square meters is the living place for a total of 10 people. Previously, Ms. Le's family lived in a stilt house at the foot of Thuan Phuoc Bridge and were moved to this apartment during the urban renovation process of Da Nang City.

People living here hope to soon move to a new, safer place.

The project is assessed as level C dangerous, but does not require urgent relocation.

In 2017, the People's Committee of Da Nang City announced that it would allow the use of this apartment complex until the end of 2021, after which it would inspect the quality of the project and propose solutions. Up to now, the residents as well as the local authorities have not yet clarified the solution.
