HUE – Hai Van Quan relic site has officially reopened to welcome visitors free of charge after 3 years of restoration at a cost of 42 billion VND.

On July 31, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the leader of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that Hai Van Quan will officially reopen to visitors starting August 1.

For now, Hai Van Quan relic will open to visitors free of charge until a suitable ticket price list is established for this relic.

Hai Van Quan relic was built during the Tran Dynasty and restored under King Minh Mang (1826) as a defensive pass.

The project is located at an altitude of nearly 500 meters above sea level on the border between Lang Co town, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city.

This is a relic with many historical and architectural values, not only an important defensive position of the southern gateway of Hue Citadel but also a famous scenic spot of Vietnam, ranked as a National Monument in 2017.

In December 2021, the Project to Preserve, Restore and Promote the Value of Hai Van Quan Relics was started to preserve and promote the value of national historical and cultural relics, contributing to the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city.

The project is invested by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center with a total investment of more than 42 billion VND from the state budget (Da Nang City 50%, Thua Thien Hue Province 50%). Although the restoration of Hai Van Quan relic has been completed and is ready to open to visitors, this relic is still facing many difficulties in operating tourism services.

Specifically, at present, this relic still lacks tourism infrastructure such as parking lots, ticket sales points, working places for tour guides and security guards, and souvenir shops. Another point is that due to its location at an altitude of nearly 500 meters above sea level, the technical infrastructure system has not been invested synchronously, the domestic water source in the area is mainly spring water and stored rainwater, which also affects the management, exploitation and promotion of the value of the relic.

Basic renovation completed.
