At the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An said that in the first 5 months of 2023, the Ministry directed and the electricity industry made many efforts to ensure electricity supply for production and people's daily life.
However, due to the hot weather and drought, 17/47 hydropower reservoirs have reached or are near dead water level, seriously affecting the operation of hydropower plants. Negotiations to purchase coal fuel from abroad are still slow, greatly affecting thermal power production. Meanwhile, the hot weather has increased the demand for electricity.
Implementing the telegrams and instructions of the Prime Minister , the Ministry of Industry and Trade ensures electricity supply for production, business and consumption in the dry season of 2023. To date, 27 provinces/cities have issued documents directing to ensure electricity supply and save electricity; 11,000 customers have signed agreements to participate in the electricity load adjustment program.
At this event, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN launched and called on all people and businesses to unite and share the difficulties of the electricity industry; respond to the use of electricity economically and effectively.
The Ministry requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct media agencies to increase propaganda on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity; direct relevant units to develop and implement electricity saving plans. Coordinate with electricity units to implement electricity saving programs and adjust electricity loads.
* Dong Nai recommends people and businesses save electricity
According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, implementing the telegram of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Provincial People's Committee recently issued an official dispatch on promoting electricity saving and ensuring safe electricity supply in the dry season of 2023.
The province has requested departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities, and public service units to increase electricity saving. Media agencies promote information on the policies of the Government, the Provincial People's Committee and the electricity sector in implementing electricity saving.
Enterprises also need to have reasonable production plans, reduce lighting systems by 50%, shift part of production activities to after 10pm, and participate in the electricity industry's load programs. Currently, nearly 1,000 enterprises have signed commitments to save electricity and adjust load.
Dong Nai Electricity has developed scenarios for power supply management to respond to the case of imbalance between supply and demand in the Southern power system. The plan must ensure power supply for important power users who are prioritized for power supply in the province. In case of having to stop or reduce power supply, customers must be specifically notified.
The province also assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Dong Nai Electricity to develop a plan to operate electricity supply and immediately deploy urgent solutions to increase electricity saving, operate safe and stable electricity supply in the province. Monitor, urge and inspect the implementation of regulations on electricity saving and efficient energy use, and report to the Provincial People's Committee before June 25, 2023.
