In document No. 6539/UBND-KGVX dated May 27, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc assigned the Department of Health to urgently preside with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Construction, Department of Finance, Bien Hoa City People's Committee and related units to review the health planning; advise and propose the Provincial People's Committee to ask for the Ministry of Health's opinion on relocating the Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 to the suburbs of Bien Hoa city.
The work must be completed and submitted to Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee before June 3, 2025.
Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 (located on Nguyen Ai Quoc Street, Tan Phong Ward, Bien Hoa City), formerly Bien Hoa Insane Hospital, was established in 1915. After many name changes, from 2003 to present, the hospital is called Central Psychiatric Hospital 2, under the Ministry of Health .
After 110 years of construction and development, the hospital is now ranked 1st with 810 employees and a scale of 1,200 inpatient beds.
On average, the hospital examines about 450 patients per day. Its main function is to examine, treat, prevent and rehabilitate mentally ill patients at the highest level in the Southern region. At the same time, the hospital is also a place to participate in training psychiatric specialists, direct the 32 provinces and cities in the Southern region, conduct scientific research, manage and treat subjects who are required to be treated.
