Affirming the role of women in the new era

Lao Cai women today not only fulfill their family responsibilities but also become the core force in economic, cultural and social development, actively contributing to building the great national unity bloc.

Promoting the qualities of "Heroic - Indomitable - Loyal - Responsible", the Women's Union at all levels in the province has implemented many creative and practical activities, associated with the key movement "Building Vietnamese women of the new era". Through specific actions, women not only affirm the position and bravery of Lao Cai women in the renovation period but also contribute to strengthening the great national unity bloc, building the province to be more and more developed and happy.

Implementing emulation movements launched by the Central, the province and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) such as: "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "For the poor - no one is left behind", "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", "Good workers, creative workers"... Lao Cai women have actively responded and made a clear mark with specific works and tasks.

In particular, the Movement "Building Vietnamese women of the new era" is concretized by the union at all levels with many flexible models, suitable to the reality of each region, aiming at 4 core criteria: having knowledge; having ethics; having health; having responsibility for oneself, family, society and country.

This is both a training goal and a motivation for Lao Cai women to constantly strive and confidently advance in all fields.

“Building Vietnamese women in the new era” is not only a formal emulation movement but has actually become a regular activity in the life of members. Through the movement, it has helped women members practice their mettle, knowledge and aspirations to rise up. Lao Cai women today not only fulfill their duties in the family but also become the core force in economic , cultural and social development, actively contributing to building the great national unity bloc.

In that spirit, the association at all levels has implemented many practical support activities. Literacy classes and “digital literacy” classes have been expanded, helping thousands of women, especially ethnic minority women, learn to read, write, use smartphones and access online public services.

100% of grassroots organizations participate in community digital transformation teams, directly instructing people on how to use digital platforms, contributing to spreading digital transformation to villages and hamlets.

In addition, the Women's Union at all levels accompanies women in starting businesses and economic development. The whole province has 90 newly established cooperatives with women participating in management, 16 enterprises owned by women; nearly 10,000 members have received vocational training and job creation.

The Provincial Women's Union alone has provided support for 1,595 livelihood models with a total value of more than 12 billion VND. In the field of scientific research, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the whole province has 128 provincial-level initiatives and 23 research topics chaired by women, many of which have high applicability in areas such as agriculture, education, health care and local cultural preservation.

Along with improving knowledge, Lao Cai women especially attach importance to cultivating the qualities of "Confidence - Self-respect - Loyalty - Responsibility". Humanistic models and clubs such as: "Happy family", "Giving love - multiplying happiness", "Civilized household groups" are maintained regularly, creating an environment for members to practice, share and help each other to progress.

The programs “Accompanying women in the border areas”, “Godmothers”, “Shelters of Love” have also been widely implemented, bringing practical social effects. Up to now, the whole province has had 652 orphans sponsored, 308 “Shelters of Love” repaired and newly built with a total mobilized resource of more than 39 billion VND...

At the grassroots level, the spirit of solidarity and sharing is demonstrated through each specific action.

Ms. Giang Thi Dung, a member of the Women's Union of Van Chan commune, shared: "Before, I did not know how to use a smartphone, nor did I find a way to develop my economy. Thanks to the technical guidance, loans and vocational training from the Women's Union staff, I boldly invested in growing Shan Tuyet tea and expanding production. Most importantly, I learned to be confident, dare to think, dare to do."

Ms. Dung's story is just one of thousands of living proofs of the spirit of innovation, self-reliance, and aspiration to rise up of women in the highlands of Lao Cai today.

Not only cultivating knowledge and morality, Lao Cai women also focus on improving health, building a positive lifestyle, and fostering a safe and happy living environment. Cultural, artistic, physical education and sports movements have developed strongly with 1,650 regularly maintained clubs, attracting tens of thousands of members.

The models: "Trusted address", "Safe house", "Women with traffic safety" and the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" were widely deployed; 2,645 projects, works and more than 200 "bright - green - clean - beautiful" roads were carried out, contributing to changing the appearance of the countryside, forming a civilized and sustainable lifestyle.

Promoting their core role in the political system, Lao Cai women also actively participate in building the Party, government, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations. The women's union at all levels has organized 390 dialogue conferences between Party and government leaders and women's union members, contributing to reflecting the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of the people, creating social consensus.

Attention is paid to the work of female cadres. Currently, women account for more than 50% of the cadres, civil servants and public employees in the whole province; the proportion of women participating in the Provincial Party Executive Committee is 17%, the Provincial People's Council delegates is 35% and the National Assembly delegates of the province account for 50%. Many women hold key positions, demonstrating their mettle, intelligence, and the spirit of daring to think and dare to do, contributing to the formulation of socio-economic development policies.

With the spirit of solidarity, creativity and aspiration to contribute, Lao Cai women today are not only the "fire keepers" in each family but also the pioneering force in building the great national unity bloc, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, term 2025 - 2030.
