Specifically, Agribank warns of sophisticated fraud involving impersonating bank staff to support and advise customers on quick loans. Accordingly, taking advantage of customers' need to borrow money, some subjects have created fan pages/groups/facebook accounts impersonating bank staff.
Fraudsters will hide behind customer care services, customer support, quick loans, unsecured loan support, online consumer loans... to defraud and appropriate property.
The specific method is that the subject asks the customer to provide information (phone number, personal information), then calls directly to consult, invites to borrow capital and requests to transfer a sum of money for various fees. When the customer trusts to transfer fees and interest before the loan is disbursed, the scammer will block all communication.
Banks constantly warn of fraud, but many people are still cheated out of money.
Meanwhile, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper continues to record customers being scammed by impersonating bank employees to upgrade their credit cards. Specifically, the scammer impersonated VPBank employees to support credit card limit increase but in fact, took over and used the card, causing customers to lose money. This scam has become popular recently.
VPBank recommends that users be wary of fake bank employees calling, texting, and sending emails inviting them to increase their credit card limit. Specifically, scammers will make friends via social networks such as Zalo, Facebook, Viber, etc., showing their bank employee cards to gain customers' trust, and then urging them to access fake links or QR Codes leading to fake VPBank websites.
Next, you are required to enter information such as: full name, ID card, card number, CVV secret code, card expiration date and OTP sent to phone number, login information and bank account password... Immediately after entering and providing the OTP code, the fraudster will gain access to the electronic bank account and make transactions to appropriate money.
Banks recommend not providing any personal information, bank accounts, credit card information, especially absolutely not providing OTP/Smart OTP codes to anyone, including bank employees, to avoid losing money unjustly.
