The story happened on train SE4 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on May 22, when train staff discovered a woman trying to get on the train without a ticket at Saigon station.
Through investigation, this woman is Pham Thi Ng., 47 years old, from Hoang Xa village, Phu Tuc commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi. She said she bought a train ticket to Ho Chi Minh City to visit relatives and borrow money to treat her husband who is seriously ill in his hometown.

However, when she arrived, she could not contact her relatives and could not find money, so she fell into a deadlock, without money to buy a train ticket home.
After days of having no place to stay, eating instant noodles and asking for water to get through the day, Ms. Ng. sneaked into the office of the Southern Railway attendants in the Saigon station area, trying to avoid paying for a ticket to get on the train back to Hanoi.
Faced with her situation, instead of handling it according to regulations, SE4 train captain Tran Van Tri and railway staff on the train proactively donated money to buy tickets for this special guest.

In just a short time, the railway staff of train SE4 raised enough money to buy her a train ticket to return home, and also provided free meals on the train during the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.
In her thank you letter, Ms. Ng. expressed her emotion when the SE4 train crew not only helped her buy a train ticket worth more than 1 million VND and provided meals, but also helped her with money to take a car from Hanoi station home.
