On October 1, the organizing committee of the national professional football tournaments (VPF) sent a document to the VFF and the VFF Disciplinary Board to request consideration and handling of violations in round 3 of the V-League 2024-2025. Accordingly, VPF reported the violation, which needed to be considered and handled in the match between the Hanoi Police Club and Binh Duong Club at Hang Day Stadium on January 30.
The VPF document states: “In the 45+2 minute, in a ball dispute in the area near the fourth referee’s table, after player number 12 of Binh Duong Club fell to the ground, player Giap Tuan Duong (number 98 of Cong An Ha Noi Club) committed a foul, jumping up and stomping on the feet of player number 12 of Binh Duong Club. After discussing with the VAR referee and reviewing the related images provided by the VAR team, the referee decided to give player Giap Tuan Duong a yellow card.”
Giap Tuan Duong (middle, bottom row) was proposed by the V-League organizing committee to receive a heavier penalty for committing a dangerous foul on an opposing player.
“Considering that the foul committed by player Giap Tuan Duong was serious and aimed at destroying the opponent; the referee's yellow card handling in the above situation was not appropriate to the level of violation; the tournament organizers respectfully request that VFF and the VFF Disciplinary Board consider and impose a more severe penalty on the violation committed by player Giap Tuan Duong (number 98 of Hanoi Police Club) in the above situation,” VPF requested.
With the request from VPF, Giap Tuan Duong will likely receive a penalty from VFF.
In this match, Hanoi Police Club won with a narrow score of 1-0 against Binh Duong Club. This is the first victory of the police team since the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. Before that, Coach Mano Poking's team drew with Hai Phong Club (1-1) and lost to Thanh Hoa Club (0-1). Hanoi Police Club is currently ranked 7th on the V-League rankings with 4 points.
