Over the past time, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province has always been close to each VAVA and their families - those living in poverty and illness - to share, encourage and find ways to help those unfortunate lives in the most effective way.

Go Cong Tay district currently has 777 AODC victims, of which about 88 are seriously ill, living with deformed bodies, paralysis and losing all ability to work, life is extremely difficult, lacking everything. For example, the family of two children Nguyen Huynh Mai Nguyen, born in 2011 and Nguyen Huynh Thanh An, born in 2015, in Thanh Loi hamlet, Binh Tan commune, both suffer from serious illnesses: cerebral palsy, cleft palate and blindness. Their parents divorced, the two children have to live with their elderly grandparents, who often get sick, the family's circumstances are very difficult. In Yen Luong commune, there is AODC victim Pham Van Binh, born in 1977, in Binh Cach hamlet, suffering from cerebral palsy, deformities and paralysis. Or AODC victim Pham Thi Kim Trang, born in 1980, in Phu Quy hamlet, suffering from congenital disabilities, daily activities are extremely difficult...

Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Go Cong Tay District, Le Minh Chau, said: "We and our brothers in the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Go Cong Tay District visited the single-parent, destitute, and poor families with seriously ill victims in Thanh Nhut Commune and witnessed their lives with our own eyes. We sympathize and feel sorry for the cruel fate of Victims of Agent Orange, such as Mr. Dang Van Khuyen, born in 1957, in Thanh Lac Dong Hamlet (he and his child both have mental illness). Or the family of two Victims of Agent Orange, Luu Ngoc Trang, born in 1955, and her son, Luu Ngoc Binh, born in 1985, living in Thanh Lac Dong Hamlet (father and son both have mental illness)...

In Go Cong Tay district, there is a very heartbreaking case that we came into contact with, the situation of NNCĐDC Nguyen Van Be, born in 1992, in Thanh Hiep hamlet, Thanh Tri commune, who has suffered from mental illness since childhood. His father went to work far away, only coming back to visit once every few years, his mother left home forever when she learned that her son was sick. He had to live with his elderly grandmother in a small, simple, old house, and the most difficult thing was when his grandmother passed away. Since then, Be has lived alone, working for hire to earn a living every day...".

According to the Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Go Cong Tay District, Le Minh Chau, in recent years, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange at all levels in the district has mobilized over 15.8 billion VND to help Victims of Agent Orange in practical ways, close to the circumstances of each victim's family. Specifically: Organizing the construction and donation of 17 charity houses for households facing difficulties in housing; donating 75 wheelchairs and rocking chairs for disabled victims to move around and earn a living every day; organizing medical examinations, treatment and free medicine for 1,200 seriously ill, elderly and lonely victims; supporting small production capital for 15 families of victims to have conditions to stabilize their lives and most commonly, during holidays and Tet, the Association organizes delegations to visit and give gifts of necessities to Victims of Agent Orange (41,012 gifts, each gift on average from 300,000 - 500,000 VND). Typical in the work of mobilizing resources to care for and help AO victims are the Associations of the communes: Yen Luong, Long Vinh, Long Binh....

With the way of working and the results achieved in the past time, every year, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Go Cong Tay district has excellently completed the assigned tasks, and has been highly appreciated by the Association at higher levels, especially the work of perfecting the organization to build the Association stronger and stronger, managing Victims of Agent Orange well and mobilizing resources to help. In its activities, the Association knows how to innovate the content and methods of operation in accordance with local realities, closely following Victims of Agent Orange. At the same time, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange at all levels in the district always creates favorable conditions for Victims of Agent Orange to access and enjoy the regimes and policies of the State according to regulations. The key staff of the Association are united, enthusiastic in their work, grasp the circumstances of each victim's family and provide effective assistance, and are trusted by the people.
