On May 28, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg announced the impressive achievements of the Gen AI assistant when this tool is being used by 1 billion people every month on Meta's platforms.
At Meta's annual shareholder meeting, Zuckerberg highlighted the milestone as the social media giant competes with Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and others to lead the race in Gen AI.
While it is unclear what percentage of users actively interact with the Meta AI chatbot versus using the built-in AI features in the app, the number still shows the strong penetration of AI into digital life.
In this fierce AI race, Meta's competitors are not far behind. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that the AI Overviews feature in Google search results has attracted more than 1.5 billion users in just one year after its launch.
Pichai claims this means Google Search is bringing AI Gen to more people than any other product in the world . Google's AI Overviews feature is an automated summary that is displayed instead of just listing blue links as before in search results.
Last week, Mr. Pichai also said that Google's Gemini AI app now has more than 400 million monthly users.
